The Lancaster
County Youth Council invites you to submit a proposal for presentation
at the 2008 Prevention of Youth Substance Abuse in Rural Communities: Cultural Competence - Unique Challenges and Critical Opportunities.
Cultural Competence – Unique Challenges and Critical Opportunities is a training conference that emphasizes the unique challenges of conducting youth prevention in rural communities. The conference was founded by one of the most successful prevention coalitions in the country, in hopes of raising awareness of the plight that many rural communities face with regards to the growth of youth substance abuse.

South Carolina Lancaster in Lancaster, South Carolina.
Historic Lancaster is located 30 miles from Charlotte, North

Selection Process
“Prevention of Youth Substance Abuse in Rural Communities: Cultural Competence – Unique Challenges and Critical Opportunities” is the conference theme and the Program Committee will review and select presentations that demonstrate the greatest potential to contribute to the quality of the conference. Presentations must provide current, relevant, and innovative information or concepts that represent best practices or proven solutions, or would add to the professional development of the participants. April 4, 2008.
Honoraria
Honoraria for presentation will include $200 and
admittance to the conference which includes continental breakfast,
lunch and snacks. If the presenter is selected for a second session
there will be an additional $100 honoraria awarded.
